Ukrainian military ombudsman Olga Reshetilova has highlighted significant issues regarding the mobilization of soldiers deemed unfit for service. In an interview conducted on March 24 and released on April 6, she revealed that a thorough investigation is underway in a military unit where approximately 2,000 newly mobilized individuals may not meet the necessary health standards.
The inquiry involves representatives from the Ministry of Defense and the command of the Ground Forces. Reshetilova emphasized the need to understand how this situation arose, questioning whether the problem originated at the recruitment centers, during medical evaluations, or within the military unit itself.
“This is a serious violation that must be addressed. There are 2,000 servicemen in the unit who are unfit for military service. The key issue is how this was allowed to happen in the first place,” she stated.
Reshetilova also noted that addressing issues related to unauthorized departures from military units and establishing clear service terms cannot be achieved without enhancing mobilization efforts.
The Ukrainian military faces scrutiny over the mobilization of around 2,000 unfit soldiers, prompting an investigation into the recruitment and evaluation processes. Ombudsman Olga Reshetilova stresses the need for accountability and improved mobilization strategies.
