Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has indicated that the United States may consider redirecting military aid originally intended for Ukraine to the Middle East, contingent upon various factors. He emphasized that the duration of the ongoing conflict in the region will play a critical role in this decision.
Zelensky stated, “Regarding the redirection of weapons, nothing has happened yet. I cannot tell you what will happen next. I believe it depends on many factors. The longevity of the war, I think, will be a decisive factor in such matters.” He expressed hope that such measures would not be necessary and that military packages for Ukraine would remain intact.
The President also highlighted a growing understanding of the scale of U.S. military involvement in combat operations and the capabilities of Iran. He noted that this knowledge is crucial, particularly in light of how Iranian resources might influence events in both Ukraine and the Middle East. Zelensky remarked, “We understand, accordingly, this expertise more thoroughly now. This is also important for us. Yes. And we understand, in principle, what is needed from the Russians in Iran as well. All these factors will affect the further development of events in both Ukraine and the Middle East. We hope that the packages will not be redirected. There have been no signals to that effect.”
