Shoigu noted that the Ural region, once deemed secure from aerial strikes originating from Ukraine, now faces direct threats. He highlighted the area’s significance, stating it houses strategic defense enterprises, energy facilities, and major oil and gas reserves, all of which are vital to Russia’s economic security and military readiness.
Additionally, Shoigu emphasized the importance of the Ural’s extensive transport infrastructure, including major railways and federal highways. He warned that damaging these assets could lead to considerable economic repercussions and destabilize the functioning of large urban areas, disrupting supply chains critical for military operations.
