Ukrainian Forces Target Russian Military Assets in Crimea and Belgorod Region

In the early hours of March 8, Ukrainian Defense Forces conducted a series of strikes against Russian military installations, according to a statement from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The report indicated that a Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile system and a BK-16 landing craft were targeted in the Novoozerny area of occupied Crimea. The full extent of the damage and casualties is still being assessed.

Additionally, the Ukrainian command reported that drone control points were hit in several locations, including Krasnosilske in Crimea, Dunayets in the Belgorod region of Russia, and Gulyai Pole and Selidove in occupied parts of Donetsk Oblast.

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty has been unable to independently verify the outcomes of these strikes.

As of now, Russian military officials have not publicly commented on the Ukrainian General Staff’s announcement.

Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russian regions and territories under occupation have frequently experienced drone strikes and artillery fire. Ukrainian authorities emphasize their ongoing efforts to disrupt the logistical bases of the Russian military to diminish its offensive capabilities.

Ukrainian Defense Forces have targeted multiple Russian military assets, including drone control points and a missile system, in Crimea and Belgorod. The full impact of these strikes is under evaluation, with independent verification still pending.
