Ukrainian Forces Report Damage to Russian Naval Vessels Amid Ongoing Conflict

On March 6, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced that two Russian military vessels, the “Admiral Essen” and the “Admiral Makarov,” had been damaged. This information follows earlier reports from the Security Service of Ukraine regarding the condition of one of the ships.

The Ukrainian military detailed that the strikes on the frigates occurred on March 2 during an assault on the Russian naval base in Novorossiysk, located in the Krasnodar region. The extent of the damage to both vessels is still being assessed, and Ukrainian defense forces are also investigating whether other Russian ships at the base were affected.

Sources from the Security Service of Ukraine indicated that during the attack on the Novorossiysk port on the night of March 2, the frigate “Admiral Essen,” which carries eight Kalibr cruise missiles, sustained critical damage and is no longer capable of launching strikes against Ukrainian territory.

Additionally, on March 6, the General Staff confirmed the targeting of several other Russian military assets, including:

  • A munitions depot in the Berdyansk area (part of occupied Donetsk), as well as a munitions unloading site in Hvardiyske (Crimea);
  • Logistical support facilities in Berdyansk and Shevchenkivske in the temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhzhia, and in Pryazovske in occupied Donetsk; a fuel and lubricant storage site near Mariupol;
  • A command and observation point in the Huliaipole area of Zaporizhzhia, a drone control point in Murom (Belgorod region of Russia), and a communication tower in Prymorsk (occupied part of Zaporizhzhia);
  • A Ka-27 helicopter near the Black Sea;
  • A munitions depot in the Novooleksiyivka area (temporarily occupied Kherson region);
  • The concentration area of the Iskander operational-tactical missile system in Crimea;
  • Air defense systems: a Pantsir-S1 in the Yakymivka area (occupied part of Zaporizhzhia), a Tor missile system near Volnovakha (Donetsk), and a launch installation of the S-300 air defense system in the Strilkove area (temporarily occupied Kherson region).

The Ukrainian military has reported damage to two Russian frigates, the "Admiral Essen" and "Admiral Makarov," during recent strikes on a naval base. In addition, several other Russian military targets were confirmed as hit, reflecting ongoing military operations in the region.
