Ukrainian military units successfully executed an operation to clear residential areas in Kupiansk, located in the Kharkiv region. The operation, which involved reconnaissance and assault tactics, was documented in a video released by the troops on February 19.
According to military sources, several Russian soldiers were found hiding in private homes, likely attempting to evade combat. Upon entering the building for verification, Ukrainian forces engaged in a firefight with the occupants. Despite attempts at resistance, the Ukrainian troops acted swiftly, resulting in the elimination of two Russian soldiers.
The brigade emphasized that the enemy increasingly utilizes civilian structures for concealment, although this strategy has not prevented detection. The situation in Kupiansk remains tense, as it continues to be a focal point in the Kharkiv region. Russian forces regularly attempt to establish a foothold in the city and its surroundings, deploying small infantry groups.
Earlier in February, Ukrainian units reported encircling approximately 50 Russian soldiers in the area. At that time, defensive forces were engaged in active reconnaissance and assault operations aimed at identifying and neutralizing the enemy.
The 41st Brigade highlighted the complexities and dangers of clearing residential sectors, noting that the enemy may set up firing positions within buildings and basements. “During the firefight, the occupiers attempted to resist, but in vain. The enemy hides, but our forces find and eliminate them. Kupiansk was, is, and will remain Ukraine,” stated a representative of the brigade.
Defensive forces continue to monitor the situation closely, progressively pushing the enemy out of urban areas and working to clear Kupiansk of occupying forces.
