Ukrainian Special Forces Strike Key Russian Military Targets

On February 17, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported that its Alpha Special Operations Center conducted a series of strikes against Russian rear military infrastructure.

The SBU stated that these attacks targeted essential components of the enemy’s military capabilities.

Among the identified targets were:

  • Four command and control centers
  • Three personnel deployment locations, including FSB special forces
  • A facility for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles
  • Two fuel and lubricant storage sites
  • Two drone launch positions
  • A munitions depot
  • A logistics hub
  • Four command observation points

The SBU emphasized that hitting these targets significantly hampers the enemy’s ability to manage units, supply resources, and prepare for new attacks. The nighttime strikes utilized FP-2 drones from Fire Point, equipped with 105 kg payloads, which contributed to the operation’s effectiveness.

Earlier that day, Ukrainian media reported, citing an SBU source, that the agency had targeted the Metafrax Chemicals plant in Russia’s Perm region, one of the largest methanol producers in Russia and Europe.

Independent verification of the damage reported has not been possible. Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russian regions and territories occupied by Russia have frequently faced drone strikes and bombardments.

The Ukrainian defense forces continue to conduct fire strikes on military sites in temporarily occupied territories and within Russia to diminish the offensive capabilities of the aggressor.

Ukrainian special forces have executed strikes on various Russian military targets, aiming to disrupt their operational capabilities. The SBU's actions reflect ongoing efforts to weaken Russian military infrastructure amid the ongoing conflict.
