U.S. President Donald Trump has encouraged Ukraine to swiftly engage in negotiations with Russia as three-way talks are set to take place in Geneva. His remarks came while addressing reporters aboard Air Force One.
During a statement regarding the upcoming discussions scheduled for February 17-18, Trump characterized the negotiations as significant, stating, “Big negotiations. It will be very simple.” He emphasized the importance of Ukraine taking the initiative to start discussions.
On February 16, the Ukrainian delegation arrived in Geneva to participate in the talks. Meanwhile, the Russian delegation has undergone changes, with Vladimir Medinsky, an aide to the Russian president, now leading their team. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed hope that the negotiation process involving the U.S. and Russia would not be hindered by the recent shifts in the Russian negotiating team.
In light of upcoming negotiations in Geneva, President Trump has urged Ukraine to promptly engage in talks with Russia. As delegations prepare, both sides are adjusting their teams, with hopes for a productive dialogue amid ongoing tensions.
