Ukrainian Defense Forces Target Key Russian Military Assets in Crimea and Occupied Territories

In a coordinated military operation, the Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully struck several significant Russian military targets, including a radar station, on the night of February 13. This action is part of ongoing efforts to diminish the offensive capabilities of Russian forces in temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian military reported that various enemy positions were hit, particularly in the Zaporizhia region. Notable strikes occurred in the areas of Solodkovodne and Lyubymivka, where concentrations of enemy personnel were targeted. Additionally, drone operator deployment sites in Tokmak and Mykhailivka were also affected.

In the Donetsk region, near the settlement of Selydove, a storage facility for enemy supplies was struck. Furthermore, the Ukrainian forces targeted the 55Zh6U ‘Nebo-U’ radar station located in the vicinity of Yevpatoria, Crimea, which is a significant asset for Russian air defense.

Another target was a concentration area for military equipment in the Komyshuvakha region of Donetsk. The extent of enemy losses and the overall damage inflicted are currently being assessed.

The ‘Nebo-U’ radar is part of a family of Russian radar systems designed for air defense. The first unit of this radar family was produced in 1995, with the ‘Nebo-U’ variant entering service in 2006. It features a phased array antenna capable of detecting various aerial threats, including aircraft and ballistic missiles.

The radar system is designed to track targets at a range of up to 700 kilometers for large objects like passenger aircraft, although its effectiveness diminishes with lower altitudes. For instance, a fighter jet flying at 500 meters can only be detected at a distance of 65 kilometers.

The ‘Nebo-U’ system is transported using three semi-trailers, which carry the antenna, control cabin, diesel generator, and a remote control point that can be situated up to one kilometer from the antenna. Its operational capabilities include identifying the state affiliation of objects and relaying information to command centers or air defense systems.

This recent operation underscores the ongoing conflict dynamics in Ukraine, where both sides continue to engage in strategic strikes aimed at weakening each other’s military infrastructure.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces have targeted key Russian military assets, including a radar station in Crimea, as part of efforts to reduce Russian offensive capabilities. This operation reflects the ongoing strategic conflict in the region, with both sides actively engaging in military actions.
