Corruption Allegations Surface in Ukrainian Military Brigade

Recent allegations have emerged regarding corruption within the 60th Separate Mechanized Brigade of Ukraine. According to Andriy Biletsky, the commander of the Third Army Corps, the former leadership of the brigade engaged in fraudulent activities, falsely reporting contracts for the procurement of FPV drones and collimator sights while diverting state funds into cash.

Following the integration of the 60th Brigade into the Third Army Corps, Biletsky replaced its command. He stated that the previous commander and associates faced accountability, and the corrupt scheme was dismantled. Biletsky characterized the reformed 60th Brigade as one of the strongest within his command.

Biletsky highlighted significant logistical issues across all brigades under the Third Corps. He noted that supplies, including food and ammunition, were inadequately stored in poorly secured locations. Soldiers reportedly went without meat for extended periods due to a lack of refrigeration, while commanders ensured their own access to proper food.

In one instance, a brigade transported wood for shelters over a distance of a thousand kilometers from its designated area. Concerns about vehicle maintenance were often unreported, as brigade commanders feared the repercussions of admitting to logistical failures.

“In some cases, changes had to be implemented manually. The capabilities of the brigades remained stagnant for months, despite improvements in supply and internal processes. We even deployed covert inspectors to assess the situation,” Biletsky wrote in his column.

Once the factors contributing to demoralization were addressed, improvements became apparent, with personnel returning from service. Biletsky recounted an instance involving the 63rd Brigade, where a soldier who had fled to Finland for over a year returned to duty.
