Recent modifications have been made to the documentation required for individuals deemed unfit for military service in Ukraine. According to legal experts, these changes pertain specifically to the certificate of illness needed for removal from military registration.
The military-medical commission (VLC) assesses the fitness of citizens for military service. Those classified as unfit are removed from military records, but must first obtain a certificate of illness.
A citizen who was recently declared unfit for service raised concerns regarding the absence of a phrase in the illness certificate indicating removal from military registration. Legal advisors clarified that the removal from military records is mandatory with the issuance of the illness certificate, regardless of the specific wording in the document.
“During the medical examination, the VLC issues a ruling stating: ‘Unfit for military service.’ The note ‘with removal from military registration’ is no longer included, but this does not change the underlying process. Individuals should wait a few days to see if their status changes in the ‘Reserve+’ system,” explained lawyer Vladislav Deryi.

In a related matter, Major Myroslava Lyashuk, a representative of the Vinnytsia Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support, explained the rationale behind the confiscation of mobile phones during the VLC process. She stated that the VLC operates as a regulated environment where a large number of military personnel are present, and the use of mobile phones could pose security risks.
