The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that American forces successfully shot down four Iranian drones heading towards the Strait of Hormuz. This incident occurred recently and prompted a retaliatory strike on Iranian coastal radar stations.
CENTCOM announced the interception via social media platform X, stating,
“Moments ago, CENTCOM forces intercepted four Iranian kamikaze drones launched towards the Strait of Hormuz.”
In response, US forces targeted radar installations located in Goruk and on Qeshm Island, aiming to prevent further threats to maritime navigation in the area. CENTCOM emphasized that these drones posed a direct risk to shipping operations.
The command also reassured that American troops remain vigilant and prepared to respond defensively to any acts of aggression.
In related developments, trilateral talks involving the US and Iran, mediated by Pakistan, took place on April 11 in Islamabad. Following these discussions, US Vice President Vance indicated that no agreement was reached on a long-term ceasefire due to unresolved differences on key issues.
Subsequently, President Trump announced on April 13 that the US Navy would initiate a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, citing the failure to reach an accord on nuclear disarmament during the negotiations. He stated that US forces would intercept any vessels that paid fees to Iran for passage through the strait.
