Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Berlin on April 14 for an official visit, where he met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The meeting was broadcast by the President’s Office, highlighting its significance in the ongoing relations between Ukraine and Germany.
Zelenskyy traveled to the Federal Chancellery by helicopter. Upon his arrival, a ceremonial welcome took place, featuring national anthems from both Ukraine and Germany. Following the formalities, the two leaders toured an exhibition showcasing military equipment developed through Ukrainian-German cooperation.
When asked about the agenda for his discussions with Chancellor Merz, Zelenskyy remarked, “Many questions,” indicating a broad range of topics to be addressed. Subsequently, the leaders entered the Chancellery for their discussions.
According to spokesperson Serhiy Nykyforov, after their bilateral talks, Zelenskyy and Merz are expected to sign several documents and hold a joint press conference. Additionally, German-Ukrainian government consultations are scheduled to follow.
Prior to this meeting, a spokesperson for the German government confirmed the planned discussions between Merz and Zelenskyy. Meanwhile, in Italy, a meeting between Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Zelenskyy is set to take place on April 15 in Rome, further emphasizing the ongoing diplomatic engagements involving Ukraine.
