On May 8, Zelensky indicated that Witkoff and Kushner were expected to visit Ukraine at the transition from spring to summer. Both individuals are part of the U.S. delegation serving as intermediaries in negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow to explore pathways to conclude the war.
On May 20, the Kremlin announced that Witkoff and Kushner would be traveling to Moscow, although specific details regarding the purpose and timing of their visit were not disclosed.
The last round of trilateral negotiations among Russia, Ukraine, and the U.S. occurred on February 17-18 in Geneva, focusing on practical issues and potential solutions. Witkoff reported significant progress following the first day of talks, noting that both sides agreed to provide updated information to their leaders and continue working towards a peace agreement.
Zelensky remarked that the discussions had fostered a sense of constructiveness regarding ceasefire monitoring, with the U.S. committed to participating in this process.
