Ukrainian Missile Strikes Russian Arms Factory in Cheboksary

Satellite images reveal significant damage to the VNIIR-Progress factory in Cheboksary, the capital of the Chuvash Republic, following a missile strike on June 10. This attack, attributed to Ukraine’s FP-5 Flamingo missiles, has reportedly left the main building of the facility nearly destroyed.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed the strike, stating that the factory supplies components for drones and missiles used by Russian forces. This facility had previously been targeted, with a notable attack occurring on May 5, 2026, which also resulted in extensive damage.

Monitoring channels shared videos showing the missile impacts and the aftermath in Cheboksary. Ukrainian Telegram channels, including Exilenova+ and Supernova+, reported that the VNIIR-Progress factory was on fire, a claim corroborated by analysis from Astra. They noted that the administrative building of the factory was likely severely damaged.

Despite the evidence presented, Russian authorities have not confirmed the strike on the factory. The VNIIR-Progress facility is known for producing antennas for the Russian military, specifically the Kometa antennas that protect Russian drones from Ukrainian electronic warfare.

Additionally, the factory manufactures satellite receivers and antennas for the Glonass, GPS, and Galileo systems, which are used in kamikaze drones such as the Shahed, as well as in missiles from the Iskander-M and Kalibr systems.

The VNIIR-Progress factory in Cheboksary suffered extensive damage from a Ukrainian missile strike on June 10, confirmed by satellite images and President Zelensky. The facility, crucial for supplying military components, had previously been attacked in May.
