Ukrainian heavyweight boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk has expressed his willingness to face Tyson Fury in a third match. This statement follows Fury’s recent victory over Russian boxer Arslanbek Makhmudov, which took place on April 12.
Fury, who won the bout by unanimous decision, marked his first fight since losing to Usyk in 2024. After this latest win, Fury called out fellow British boxer Anthony Joshua but indicated he would be open to a third encounter with Usyk if Joshua declines the challenge.
“If Joshua doesn’t want it, let’s have a trilogy with Usyk. But I need a fair fight,” Fury stated.
In response, Usyk addressed Fury’s challenge during a press conference ahead of his upcoming fight against Rico Verhoeven. He confirmed his readiness for a rematch with Fury but specified that it would take place after his bout with Verhoeven.
“I only watched the first six rounds of the Fury-Makhmudov fight; then I went to church. I heard he mentioned a possible trilogy with me. I’m ready, but after my fight with Rico. Right now, I’m focused solely on May 23,” Usyk remarked.
Usyk has previously defeated Fury twice in 2024 and 2025, securing his status as the undisputed heavyweight champion. Following these losses, Fury briefly retired from boxing but returned after a hiatus of nearly 18 months.
“He’s a crazy guy. He’s come back five times after retirement. It’s good; he’s a needed player. All of us in the heavyweight division have another year or two before the era changes. Young fighters like Wardley and Ituma will come, and we’ll be off to relax, play football, and drink beer,” Usyk commented.
Usyk is set to defend his WBA, WBC, and IBF heavyweight titles against Verhoeven on May 23 in Egypt, near the Pyramids of Giza.
Oleksandr Usyk has indicated his readiness for a third fight with Tyson Fury, contingent on Anthony Joshua's decision. This comes after Fury's recent victory and Usyk's upcoming title defense against Rico Verhoeven.
