In a recent military operation, the 23rd Assault Brigade “R.U.G” of the 2nd Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU) reported significant advances in the Vovchansk direction during April and May. The operation involved crossing the front line and engaging Russian forces, marking a notable development in the ongoing conflict.
According to the brigade, the troops successfully conducted a clearance operation that extended deep into enemy territory, reaching a battalion stronghold. This maneuver was part of a broader effort to disrupt Russian defensive positions.
Reports indicate that both Ukrainian soldiers and foreign volunteers from Latin America participated in this operation. The combined forces advanced through wooded areas on both the left and right flanks near the village of Starytsia.
On the left flank, approximately 50 personnel were involved, while an additional 15 operated on the right flank. The military engagement resulted in the destruction of over ten enemy bunkers and the elimination of twelve Russian soldiers, according to sources.
