Ukrainian Drone Strikes Target Russian Oil Refinery in Tuapse

A recent drone strike by Ukrainian forces has reportedly caused significant damage to an oil refinery in Tuapse, located in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai. Satellite images released on April 28 by the project “Schemes” from Radio Free Europe show heavy smoke rising from the facility, indicating a possible fire that may have affected critical infrastructure responsible for processing oil products.

This incident marks the third major attack on the Tuapse refinery within a month. Previous strikes occurred on April 16 and April 20, with satellite data confirming extensive fires in storage tanks and pipelines during those assaults.

The Tuapse refinery, owned by Rosneft, is the only facility of its kind on the Black Sea coast and holds strategic importance for Russia. It serves as a vital hub for supplying fuel to Russian military forces and is a key terminal for exporting oil products via the Black Sea.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed the drone strike on the refinery. Since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, various targets within Russian territory have experienced airstrikes. The Ukrainian military has consistently stated that these operations are aimed at diminishing the combat capabilities of Russian occupying forces and compelling Russia to cease its armed aggression against Ukraine.

Ukrainian drone strikes have targeted the Tuapse oil refinery in Russia, causing significant damage and marking the third attack on the facility in a month. The refinery is crucial for Russian military logistics and oil exports.
