Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Court Extends Procedural Obligations for Yulia Tymoshenko

The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine has extended the procedural obligations for Yulia Tymoshenko, the leader of the Batkivshchyna party, until July 7, 2026. This decision was made during a court session on May 7, amid ongoing investigations into allegations of bribery involving members of the Ukrainian parliament.

According to the court’s ruling, Tymoshenko is required to comply with several conditions, including appearing before detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), prosecutors from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP), and the court itself upon request. She must also notify these authorities of any changes to her residence or employment.

This ruling is not subject to appeal. In a statement on social media, Tymoshenko claimed that the court had lifted a ban on her traveling abroad for political activities. She described this as a victory against what she termed political repression by NABU and SAP. “The court’s decision to lift the travel ban for political activities is another step in dismantling this case,” she wrote.

Previously, on April 15, the High Anti-Corruption Court had temporarily allowed Tymoshenko to travel abroad to attend an international event in Croatia, despite the ongoing investigation.

The case against Tymoshenko began on January 13, when NABU and SAP announced they had uncovered corruption involving a leader of a parliamentary faction, later identified as Tymoshenko. Reports indicated that she was implicated in discussions regarding payments for specific votes in parliament.

Tymoshenko has dismissed the allegations as a public relations stunt, asserting that the anti-corruption agencies found no incriminating evidence and merely confiscated her work phones, parliamentary documents, and personal savings, all of which she claims are fully declared in her official records. She further alleged that the recordings released by NABU do not feature her.

In subsequent court statements, Tymoshenko alleged that the conversations captured on tape involved a member of the ruling party, Igor Kopytin, who she claimed was acting under NABU’s direction to compromise her. Kopytin has denied any involvement in political games and reiterated his commitment to anti-corruption efforts.

Yulia Tymoshenko's procedural obligations have been extended by the High Anti-Corruption Court as investigations into bribery allegations continue. The court's ruling requires her to comply with various conditions while she maintains her innocence amid ongoing scrutiny.
