Ukrainian Air Defense Intercepts Majority of Russian Drone Attacks

In a significant military engagement on June 22, Russian forces launched a series of aerial assaults against Ukraine, utilizing an Iskander-M ballistic missile and 88 strike drones, including various models such as Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas. Ukrainian air defense managed to neutralize 79 of these drones, according to reports from the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The drones were reportedly launched from multiple locations, including Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, and Crimea, as well as from occupied areas in Donetsk. The Ukrainian defense employed a combination of aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare, and mobile fire groups to counter the attack.

As of 08:30 local time, preliminary assessments indicated that the air defense system successfully intercepted 79 enemy drones across northern, southern, and eastern Ukraine. Additionally, there were confirmed strikes from the ballistic missile and five drones at six different locations, with debris from intercepted drones falling in nine areas.
