In the early hours of May 25, the Russian military launched a significant drone assault on Ukraine, deploying 262 strike drones, including models such as Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and imitation drones known as ‘Parody.’ The Ukrainian Air Force reported that their air defense forces successfully neutralized 246 of these drones.
The attack originated from multiple locations in Russia, including Orel, Kursk, Shatalovo, Bryansk, Millerovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea. The Ukrainian military confirmed that the assault began around 5:30 PM on May 24 and continued into the night.
By 8:00 AM, various units, including aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups, had intercepted or suppressed the majority of the incoming drones across northern, southern, and eastern Ukraine.
Despite the high interception rate, the attack resulted in confirmed strikes from 10 drones at nine different locations, with debris reported to have fallen in seven areas. The Ukrainian Air Force urged citizens to remain vigilant as some hostile drones were still in the airspace.
