Ukraine is set to enhance its diplomatic representation in Germany with the establishment of a General Consulate in Dresden. This decision follows a meeting between Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and his German counterpart, Johannes Wadaful.
During the discussions, both ministers agreed on the importance of expanding Ukraine’s consular presence in Germany, particularly in light of the significant number of Ukrainian refugees residing in the country due to the ongoing conflict. Sybiha expressed gratitude towards Germany for its support, emphasizing the humanitarian dimension of their collaboration.
“The humanitarian aspect remains crucial for our countries. Germany hosts one of the largest populations of Ukrainians displaced by the war. We have agreed to expand Ukraine’s consular presence and are preparing to open a General Consulate in Dresden. We appreciate Germany’s support and assistance,” Sybiha stated.
Additionally, the ministers announced the launch of a joint cultural season between Ukraine and Germany, which is scheduled to take place from 2027 to 2028. This initiative aims to foster deeper cultural ties and mutual understanding between the two nations.
