Oлена Київець Takes Oath as New Member of Ukrainian Parliament

On April 28, Oлена Київець officially took her oath as a member of the Ukrainian Parliament, representing the Servant of the People party. This event was reported by a correspondent from Suspilne.

The Central Election Commission recognized Київець as an elected member of Parliament on April 21, following the resignation of Дар’я Володіна, who stepped down from her position.

“The CEC reviewed the relevant document and acknowledged Oлена Київець, the next candidate in line from the Servant of the People party’s electoral list, as a newly elected member of Parliament for the specified elections,” the announcement stated.

Oлена Київець holds a doctorate in law and has a background in academia. According to the movement Чесно, she served as a volunteer assistant to MP Олег Кулініч during the VII and VIII convocations of the Parliament from 2012 to 2019. Kулініч has been noted for instances of voting misconduct.

From 2013 to 2020, she was a professor at the Department of Civil Law Disciplines at the National Academy of Prosecution of Ukraine. In 2015, Київець co-founded the Ukrainian Agrarian Association in Kyiv and later, in 2016, the League of Law Professors, which included future parliamentary speaker Руслан Стефанчук as a co-founder.

In 2019, she unsuccessfully ran for a seat in the IX convocation of Parliament from the Servant of the People party, being placed in a non-electable position on the list. That same year, she became the head of the Довіра party, led by Кулініч.

In 2020, she took on the role of professor at the Department of International and European Law at the Kyiv Economic University named after Вадим Гетьман.

Oлена Київець has been sworn in as a member of the Ukrainian Parliament, filling the vacancy left by Дар'я Володіна. With a background in law and academia, Київець has previously held various positions, including serving as a volunteer assistant to a former MP.
