Netherlands Supplies Ukraine with Over 60 Toyota Hilux Vehicles and Drone Systems

The Netherlands has delivered more than 60 Toyota Hilux pickup trucks and drone systems to Ukraine, enhancing the capabilities of its military forces. These vehicles are intended for various operational roles, including reconnaissance, evacuation, logistics, mine detection, and autonomous missions.

Colonel Simon Woud, who leads the Taskforce Ukraine within the Dutch Ministry of Defence, noted that the vehicles were procured from the civilian sector and repainted in military colors. He emphasized that this delivery is part of a broader assistance package aimed at improving the mobility of units operating with both strike and reconnaissance drones.

“It is crucial that Ukrainian forces receive this support now, as they are engaged in combat operations. Speed is key in this context,” Woud stated. He further elaborated that the Netherlands is not merely supplying equipment but is also providing capabilities. Each system comes with spare parts, ammunition, and translated documentation, with training offered as necessary.

During the handover, representatives from three companies—Milrem Robotics, High Eye, and Acecore Technologies—were present to showcase the equipment acquired by the Dutch Ministry of Defence for Ukrainian military use. These drone systems are already operational in various capacities, reflecting the growing importance of unmanned technologies in modern warfare.

The Dutch Ministry of Defence has highlighted that support for Ukraine’s drone forces is a strategic focus in their bilateral cooperation. This recent delivery follows earlier announcements regarding the provision of F-16 flight simulators for training Ukrainian pilots, as well as plans for the training of Ukrainian pilots on Swedish Gripen fighters later this year.

The Netherlands has provided Ukraine with over 60 Toyota Hilux vehicles and drone systems to enhance military capabilities. This assistance is part of a broader strategy to support Ukraine's defense efforts amid ongoing conflict.
