Military Officer Charged for Assaulting Civilian in Lviv

A military officer from the Shevchenkivskyi District Territorial Recruitment Center in Lviv has been charged with assaulting a 56-year-old man during a document check. The incident occurred in a local area of Lviv and has drawn the attention of the State Bureau of Investigations (DBR).

According to the investigation, the confrontation arose when a group of recruitment officers stopped the civilian for a document verification. During the altercation, one officer allegedly used physical force, striking the man and subsequently forcing him into a service vehicle while restraining him.

The DBR highlighted that the officer failed to activate his portable video recorder, which he was equipped with. Medical examinations later revealed that the victim suffered a fracture of the left humerus, classified as moderate bodily harm.

The military officer faces charges for exceeding authority while on duty, which resulted in the infliction of moderate injuries. Under Article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, this offense carries a potential prison sentence of up to 12 years.

On December 5, 2025, the DBR announced the suspicion against the officer, emphasizing the importance of lawful conduct during mobilization efforts and the need to address instances of unlawful use of force.
