Man Arrested in Kyiv for Mocking Memorial to Fallen Defenders

Authorities in Kyiv have apprehended a 37-year-old man for ridiculing a spontaneous memorial dedicated to fallen defenders in the city. The individual, currently in custody, has been transferred to the Military Law Enforcement Service for further proceedings.

The incident came to light following the release of a video in which the man, identified as Igor_volokha on social media, made derogatory comments about the memorial. In the footage, he demanded the removal of flags and expressed disdain for the tribute, stating, “What are you doing here with all these flags?” His remarks have drawn widespread condemnation.

Police located the suspect at his residence, where he was unable to provide a clear rationale for his actions. Following his arrest, he reportedly altered his appearance in an attempt to evade recognition.

In addition to mocking the memorial, the man also made disparaging comments regarding the defenders of Mariupol in another video. This behavior has raised significant concerns among the public and authorities alike.

The Military Law Enforcement Service will now determine the appropriate legal consequences for the man’s actions. As of now, the controversial videos have been removed from his social media accounts.
