Iran Warns Against U.S. Interference in Strait of Hormuz

Iran has issued a stern warning regarding any potential U.S. intervention in the Strait of Hormuz, stating that such actions would be considered a breach of the ceasefire. This declaration was made by Ebrahim Azizi, the head of the Iranian parliament’s National Security Commission, via social media.

Azizi emphasized that any U.S. involvement in the newly established maritime regulations in the Strait would be viewed as a violation of the existing truce. His comments come in the context of heightened tensions surrounding maritime security in the region.

Previously, former U.S. President Donald Trump announced Project Freedom, which aims to provide escort services for vessels from neutral countries navigating through the Strait of Hormuz. This initiative has raised concerns in Tehran, which perceives it as a direct challenge to its sovereignty.

In related developments, reports indicate that the Iranian parliament is preparing to enact legislation that would restrict the movement of vessels through the Strait. Trump has claimed that Iran is eager for the U.S. to facilitate the reopening of the Strait as soon as possible.

Furthermore, sources suggest that Ukraine is preparing to deploy mine-clearing vessels from the United Kingdom to the Strait. The Pentagon has informed U.S. lawmakers that the mine clearance operation could take approximately six months.

European Commissioner for Transport, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, has warned of potentially catastrophic consequences if the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened soon for the free passage of oil and gas tankers.

Iran has warned that any U.S. interference in the Strait of Hormuz would be seen as a breach of the ceasefire. This statement follows U.S. plans to escort neutral vessels in the region and comes amid ongoing discussions about maritime security and legislative measures in Iran.
