French President Emmanuel Macron has condemned the recent large-scale attack by Russia on Ukraine, which included the use of the ballistic missile “Oreshnik.” He described the assault as indicative of the ongoing escalation and deadlock of Russian aggression.

Macron emphasized France’s unwavering commitment to support Ukraine in its pursuit of a just and lasting peace, while also reinforcing European security.

On the night of May 24, Ukraine faced a significant offensive from Russian forces, which involved the launch of 600 drones and 90 missiles from air, sea, and ground platforms, primarily targeting Kyiv.

The assault resulted in the deaths of two individuals in Kyiv, with 69 others reported injured. Damage was recorded at over 40 locations across various districts, including Shevchenkivskyi, Darnytskyi, Desnianskyi, Obolonskyi, and Holosiivskyi.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the attack caused destruction to residential buildings, shopping centers, educational institutions, and administrative buildings, including the National Museum of Chernobyl.

In the Kyiv region, authorities reported that two people lost their lives in the Bucha and Obukhiv districts, with nine others injured, including an infant. In Cherkasy, an attack by a Russian drone on a high-rise building injured 11 people, two of whom were children.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that at least 83 individuals have been affected by the extensive assault, with fatalities confirmed.

The Russian Ministry of Defense acknowledged the large-scale drone and missile strikes, including the use of the “Oreshnik” ballistic missile, claiming they targeted military management facilities, air bases, and enterprises within Ukraine’s defense industry.
