Former Security Employee Arrested in Odesa for Collaboration with Occupying Forces

A former employee of the paramilitary security service of “Ukrzaliznytsia” has been apprehended in Odesa after allegedly collaborating with occupying forces during the temporary occupation of Kherson. The individual had been evading justice for nearly four years.

According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, the suspect was formally charged with treason on May 5, 2025, and the indictment has since been submitted to the court. The investigation reveals that the accused, a resident of the village of Radensk in the Kherson region, worked for the paramilitary security unit prior to the full-scale invasion.

Following the capture of Kherson, the individual reportedly switched allegiance to the aggressor state, joining the illegally established “Kherson Detachment of Paramilitary Security,” which operated under the guise of the “Kherson Railway” enterprise. In his role as a security officer, he was responsible for guarding logistical shipments for the occupying administration, including those containing weaponry.

After the liberation of the right bank of the Kherson region, the suspect attempted to avoid accountability and went into hiding from law enforcement agencies. Subsequently, he was charged in absentia and placed on a wanted list, with the indictment submitted to the court in July 2025 under Article 111, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

On May 28, 2026, law enforcement officials located and arrested him in Odesa. Following a request from the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the court imposed a preventive measure of detention.
