As cold weather settles across Ukraine, electricity consumption has increased, with a reported rise of 3.5% compared to the previous day. This uptick is attributed to lower temperatures and overcast conditions, which have diminished the output of solar power stations and heightened demands on the national grid.
According to the National Energy Company of Ukraine (Ukrenergo), several regions continue to experience power outages due to the aftermath of Russian attacks. Areas affected include Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Odesa, where emergency restoration efforts are underway, contingent on the prevailing security situation.
Additionally, severe weather conditions have exacerbated the situation, with strong winds causing power outages in over 100 settlements across Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kirovohrad, Sumy, Poltava, Cherkasy, and Mykolaiv regions. Repair teams from local energy companies are actively working to restore damaged networks.
Ukrenergo has emphasized the importance of conserving electricity, particularly during peak evening hours from 18:00 to 22:00, to alleviate pressure on the energy system.
Electricity consumption in Ukraine has increased due to cold weather and reduced solar energy production. Several regions face power outages, prompting emergency restoration efforts as severe weather complicates the situation.
