Dutch Customs Seize Over 1,400 Kilograms of Cocaine in Rotterdam

On April 4, Dutch customs officials at the Port of Rotterdam discovered more than 1,400 kilograms of cocaine hidden in three containers that had arrived from Curaçao. The majority of the drugs were concealed among personal belongings intended for relocation.

The seizure took place at the Maasvlakte terminal, where customs officers inspected containers from a ship coming from Curaçao and identified irregularities in three of them. In the first container, officials found bags containing 32 kilograms of cocaine. The second container held six wheeled suitcases with an additional 177 kilograms of the drug.

The largest quantity was located in the third container, which was transporting household items for a move from Curaçao to the Netherlands. Amid the usual cargo, customs uncovered 35 bags containing 1,199 packages of cocaine.

According to the Dutch prosecution service, the recipients of the containers were not involved in the smuggling operation. The seized narcotics have since been destroyed.
