The curfew in the Sumy region has been reduced by one hour, now running from midnight to 5 AM, as announced by Oleg Grygorov, the head of the regional military administration.
This adjustment aims to address the needs of the local population and enhance economic activity, creating more favorable conditions for businesses and improving transportation links. Grygorov noted that this decision was influenced by feedback from the business community.
Sumy, which shares a border with Russia, frequently experiences attacks from Russian forces employing various types of weaponry. The region has been under scrutiny since President Vladimir Putin emphasized the need for a “buffer zone” along the Ukrainian border nearly a year ago. Since then, small incursions have been reported in border areas, which the defense forces continue to confront.
The Sumy region has adjusted its curfew to support local businesses and improve transportation. This decision comes amid ongoing security challenges due to proximity to the Russian border.
