Casualties Rise Following Russian Missile Attack in Kharkiv Region

A missile strike in the Kharkiv region of Ukraine has resulted in multiple fatalities, with the death toll now reaching seven. The attack occurred in the town of Merefa on May 4, 2026, prompting a wave of mourning in the local community.

According to local authorities, a 59-year-old man succumbed to injuries sustained during the attack while receiving medical treatment. In response to the tragedy, the Merefa community has declared three days of mourning from May 5 to May 7.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced a ceasefire that will take effect from midnight on May 5, lasting until May 6. He emphasized that there have been no official requests from Russia regarding a cessation of hostilities.

In a separate incident, a 62-year-old man was injured due to Russian shelling in Dnipro on May 4. The attack caused damage to residential buildings and vehicles, with firefighters responding to extinguish a fire that broke out in a private sector area.

A recent missile attack in Merefa has led to seven fatalities, prompting a period of mourning in the community. Concurrently, a separate incident in Dnipro resulted in injuries and property damage from Russian shelling.
