Bulgaria has claimed its first victory at the Eurovision Song Contest, held in Vienna, with singer Dara performing the song ‘Bangaranga.’ This marks a significant return for Bulgaria after a three-year hiatus from the competition.

Dara secured a total of 516 points, comprising 204 from the jury and 312 from the audience votes. The event saw Ukraine’s representative, Leléka, finishing in ninth place with a total of 221 points, which included 54 from the national jury and 167 from viewers.

The top five artists at Eurovision 2026 were:

  • Bulgaria
  • Israel – Noam Bettan (343 points)
  • Romania – Alexandra Căpitănescu (296 points)
  • Australia – Delta Goodrem (287 points)
  • Italy – Sal Da Vinci (281 points)

Finland’s duo, Linda Lampenius and Pete Parkkonen, who were favorites to win, ended up in sixth place with 279 points.

In the lower rankings, Belgium finished last with 36 points, followed by Lithuania with 22, Germany with 12, Austria with 6, and the United Kingdom at the bottom with just 1 point.

Dara, one of Bulgaria’s leading pop artists, has several number-one hits in the country’s official Airplay chart. The song ‘Bangaranga’ was co-written by Dara, Anne Judith Wik, Cristian Tarcea, and Greek composer Dimitris Kontopoulos, known for his previous work with Russia in the Eurovision context.

The title ‘Bangaranga’ is derived from a Jamaican term that symbolizes a call to rebellion and emotional courage.
