Belarusian Parliament Approves Bill Banning LGBT Propaganda and Child-Free Advocacy

The National Assembly of Belarus has approved a controversial bill aimed at prohibiting the promotion of LGBT rights and the concept of voluntary childlessness, as reported by the state news agency Belta.

This legislative measure, titled “On Amendments to the Codes Regarding Administrative Responsibility,” introduces nine new articles and 43 new categories to the Belarusian Code of Administrative Offenses. It also includes 73 amendments to existing categories.

Among the new provisions is Article 19.16, which addresses the “propaganda of homosexual relationships, gender transition, childlessness, and pedophilia.” This article stipulates fines for both individuals and legal entities found in violation.

Specifically, if minors are exposed to such information, individuals may face community service or administrative detention, while legal entities could incur fines exceeding $3,000.

For the bill to become law, it requires the signature of Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko.

This development reflects ongoing legislative efforts in Belarus to regulate social issues, particularly those related to sexual orientation and family structure.

The Belarusian National Assembly has passed a bill targeting LGBT advocacy and child-free lifestyles, adding significant penalties for violations. The legislation awaits approval from President Alexander Lukashenko to take effect.
