15-Year-Old Girl Charged in Attempted Murder Case in Ternopil

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has announced that a 15-year-old girl from Ternopil is facing charges related to an attempted murder. This incident occurred on April 27, 2026, when the ninth-grade student allegedly attacked a classmate outside her home.

According to the investigation, the suspect confronted her peer in the entrance of the building and inflicted multiple stab wounds. One of the knife’s shards reportedly became lodged in the victim’s head. Fortunately, the injured girl was hospitalized, and her condition is stable, with no threats to her life.

The authorities have detained the suspect and are currently working to ascertain the motives behind her actions. One line of inquiry being explored is the possibility of bullying, with the prosecution indicating that if this is confirmed, appropriate legal measures will be taken.

The Office of the Prosecutor General also mentioned that they are preparing a request for a preventive measure for the accused. According to a spokesperson for the regional prosecutor’s office, Lesya Huretska, a court hearing to determine this preventive measure is scheduled for April 29, 2026, and will be conducted behind closed doors.

In a related note, the Ternopil police reported that there have been 17 documented cases of bullying in local schools since the beginning of the year.
