Ukraine to Take Action Against Countries Trading with Russia, Including Israel

Ukrainian officials have announced plans to implement measures against nations that engage in trade with Russia, which they claim funds the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. This includes Israel, which has been accused of purchasing stolen grain from occupied Ukrainian territories.

“You will see appropriate measures when the time comes. We are talking about legal procedures. However, I reiterate that we have this legal aspect, which encompasses investigations by the Attorney General’s Office and certain legal actions being taken in courts and during trials,” stated a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

The spokesperson emphasized that sanctions would be part of this process, describing it as a “universal approach.” He clarified that the measures would not only target Israeli companies but also anyone involved in this illegal trade, effectively aiding the aggressor in financing military actions against Ukraine.

While acknowledging Israel as a partner and friend, the spokesperson pointed out that the trade in question supports the aggressor nation. “We are straightforward with them because this trade finances our enemy. Our enemies are waging war against our country and our people. Therefore, we will take action,” he added.

Last week, the cargo ship Abinsk was unloaded at the port of Haifa, carrying a shipment of wheat that Russia allegedly exported illegally from occupied areas of Ukraine. The Israeli authorities reportedly ignored warnings from Kyiv regarding the grain’s illegal origins and allowed the vessel access to the terminal.

In response to this incident, the Office of the Prosecutor General has opened a case, and a Ukrainian court has ordered the arrest of both the ship and its cargo. Ukraine has also sent an official request to Israel for legal assistance to block the shipment and prevent the legitimization of the stolen goods.

Ukraine is set to take legal action against countries, including Israel, that trade with Russia and support its military efforts through illegal grain purchases. This follows a recent incident involving a ship carrying stolen Ukrainian wheat that was allowed entry into Israel despite warnings from Kyiv.
