U.S. and Israel Near Framework Agreement to End War with Iran

In a significant diplomatic development, the United States and Israel are reportedly on the verge of finalizing a framework agreement aimed at ceasing hostilities with Iran. This preliminary deal could be reached within the next few days, with a comprehensive agreement expected in the following two months.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated that there is a possibility of Iran agreeing to the ceasefire terms imminently. He mentioned that discussions surrounding a memorandum of understanding are ongoing, stating, “There is a likelihood that we will have something to announce today, tomorrow, or in a couple of days. Progress has been made, and work is continuing even as I speak with you.” Rubio emphasized the U.S. demands for Iran to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz and to hand over enriched uranium.

Rubio also reiterated President Donald Trump’s preference for resolving such issues through negotiation and diplomacy. He expressed optimism about achieving a solution diplomatically, while acknowledging the urgency of the situation.

On the Iranian side, following the visit of Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir to Tehran, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei announced that Iran is nearing the completion of the framework agreement. He stated that details would be discussed over a reasonable timeframe of 30 to 60 days, leading to a final agreement. Baghaei noted that the initial goal is to establish a 14-point memorandum of understanding.

While there is a trend toward rapprochement, Baghaei cautioned that this does not guarantee consensus on critical issues. He described the aim as reaching an agreement acceptable to both parties based on various elements.

In a related note, Al Hadath reported Baghaei’s assertion that nuclear issues will not be included in the proposed U.S. agreement at this stage. He emphasized that the immediate focus will be on ending the conflict, stating, “At this point, we will not discuss the details of the nuclear issue. Our priority is to address the urgent matter of ending the war on all fronts, including Lebanon.” He added that discussions regarding nuclear matters and other topics would take place later within the previously mentioned timeframe.

The U.S. and Israel are close to finalizing a framework agreement to end hostilities with Iran, with a comprehensive deal expected in the next two months. Both sides are currently negotiating terms, focusing initially on a ceasefire rather than nuclear issues.
