U.S. President Donald Trump has declared a military operation in Cuba, referring to it as a “new dawn” for the Cuban people after decades of waiting.
In his remarks, Trump positioned himself as a “peacemaker” who has resolved eight conflicts, asserting that intervention is sometimes necessary. He stated, “Very soon, this great power will also bring the day that has been 70 years in the making. It is called ‘a new dawn for Cuba.’ We will assist them in Cuba. We have many wonderful Cuban Americans, people who have been treated cruelly, whose families have been killed and tortured. And now, just wait and see what will happen,” he said.
Trump emphasized that the operation would deliver the “long-awaited freedom” to the Cuban populace.
Meanwhile, prior to the announcement, there was a notable increase in American naval reconnaissance activity off the coast of Cuba, with the deployment of the MQ-4C Triton drone, which is designed for maritime surveillance and high-altitude observation.
President Trump's announcement of a military operation in Cuba aims to bring significant change to the nation after decades of repression. This move coincides with increased U.S. naval reconnaissance in the region, signaling heightened tensions.
