Iran has identified key challenges hindering authentic negotiations with the United States, emphasizing issues such as maritime blockades and unmet obligations. According to Iranian official Pezeshkian, while Tehran is open to dialogue and appreciates the recent ceasefire agreement, three major obstacles persist.
The first challenge is the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which affects tankers traveling to and from Iran. The second pertains to violations of previously agreed commitments, and the third involves ongoing threats from external parties.
“The world sees your endless hypocritical rhetoric and the contradiction between statements and actions,” Pezeshkian stated on social media platform X.
In a related statement, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf remarked that a complete ceasefire is only meaningful if it is not undermined by maritime blockades. He asserted that such a ceasefire must also coincide with an end to Israeli aggression across all fronts.
Ghalibaf further expressed that restoring the flow through the Strait of Hormuz is unfeasible amid blatant violations of the ceasefire agreement. He stressed that the situation necessitates a reevaluation of tactics, as military aggression has not yielded the desired outcomes for the U.S. and Israel.
Additionally, the Israeli parliamentary speaker noted that the goals of the U.S. and Israel cannot be achieved through military intimidation, advocating instead for the recognition of the rights of the Iranian people as the only viable path forward.
