In a bold move during his inaugural address, Hungary’s newly appointed Prime Minister, Péter Magyar, urged President Tamás Sulok to resign. This call came shortly after Magyar took his oath of office at the first session of the new parliament.
During his speech, Magyar criticized Sulok for failing to oppose the missteps of the previous administration. He highlighted significant issues, including the erosion of democratic principles and the harsh treatment of children in state-run orphanages.
“It’s time to leave with dignity while there’s still a chance,” Magyar stated, setting a resignation deadline of May 31.
