A new escalation has emerged in the relationship between Washington and Tehran, with the United States demanding control over Iran’s uranium supplies, while Iran has signaled its readiness for military action.
The White House has articulated a clear stance. President Donald Trump has expressed the U.S. goal of achieving full control over Iran’s nuclear stockpiles. He emphasized that if an agreement is reached, the process would involve collaboration with Tehran.
“If we sign an agreement, then sometime after signing we will review this together with Iran and return it 100% to the United States,”
Trump stated. He also warned of consequences should diplomatic efforts fail, asserting that the U.S. would obtain these supplies in a “much more unfriendly manner”.
“In any case, we will do this,”
he affirmed.
In response, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei declared that the nation’s valiant fleet is fully prepared for confrontation and capable of “inflicting new bitter defeats on its enemies”. This rhetoric coincides with Iran’s recent operational reinstatement of restrictions on maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
On the anniversary of the establishment of the Iranian army, Khamenei praised drone attacks on Israel and U.S. military installations.
Recent days have seen indications of a potential diplomatic breakthrough in U.S.-Iran relations. Reports have suggested that the two sides have “principally agreed” on the terms of a significant deal, although several technical issues remain unresolved.
Subsequently, Trump announced the potential conclusion of the conflict, stating that an agreement with Iran could be signed “in a day or two”. Preliminary information indicates that Tehran has agreed to an indefinite suspension of its nuclear program without the release of its assets in the U.S.
This morning, the American leader hinted at progress in negotiations but cautioned that the current ceasefire could still end without a final agreement if Washington’s demands are not fully met.
Tensions between the U.S. and Iran have escalated as the U.S. demands control over Iran's uranium supplies. While diplomatic talks show signs of progress, Iranian leaders have issued military threats, complicating the situation further.
