Samsung Launches One UI 8.5 for Galaxy S25 Series with Key Features

Samsung has officially rolled out the final version of its One UI 8.5 interface for the Galaxy S25 series smartphones, based on Android 16. The update is currently available to users in South Korea, with a global rollout expected in the coming weeks.

A standout feature of this update is the introduction of AirDrop support via Quick Share, allowing for easier file sharing between Samsung and Apple devices. This enhancement aims to streamline user interactions across different platforms.

In addition to AirDrop functionality, One UI 8.5 includes several other notable updates:

  • Now Nudge: Smart suggestions integrated within the Samsung Keyboard;
  • Full Customization: Users can fully personalize the Quick Panel;
  • Dynamic Lock Screen: The layout adapts automatically to the user’s wallpaper colors and design;
  • Improved DeX: The system remembers app window sizes when switching modes;
  • Bluetooth Auracast: Enables audio streaming to multiple pairs of headphones simultaneously.

Samsung has confirmed that the first devices to receive the One UI 8.5 update will include:

  • Galaxy S25 series (including S25 FE) and Galaxy S24;
  • Foldable devices Z Fold 7/6 and Z Flip 7/6;
  • Galaxy Tab S11 and Tab S10 tablets.

To ensure a smooth upgrade process, Samsung has issued guidelines for users, as One UI 8.5 involves significant code changes to the operating system. The company aims to prevent issues such as overheating, display artifacts, or data loss during the update.

Users are advised to follow these recommendations:

  • Clear Storage: Ensure sufficient free space, as file decompression requires ample room.
  • Battery Optimization: Keep the battery level above 60%, ideally keeping the device plugged in during the update.
  • Temperature Management: Avoid starting the update if the device is hot from gaming or extensive camera use; allow it to cool down first.
  • Stable Wi-Fi Connection: Downloading large update files over mobile data or an unstable network can lead to installation issues.
  • App Updates: Update all applications in the Galaxy Store and Google Play before transitioning to One UI 8.5 to prevent compatibility conflicts.

Users are also strongly encouraged to back up important photos and documents prior to initiating the installation, as major system updates carry inherent risks of critical errors.

Samsung has launched One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy S25 series, introducing features like AirDrop support and enhanced customization options. Users are advised to follow specific guidelines to ensure a smooth update process.
