A Russian drone attack on June 3 resulted in the complete destruction of an ATB distribution center in the Dnipro region. This facility was crucial for supplying food and essential goods to around 300 stores in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.
The distribution center spanned 37,500 square meters, and initial estimates suggest damages could reach hundreds of millions of hryvnias. Fortunately, no employees were injured during the incident as they were in a shelter at the time of the strike.
Serhiy Demchenko, head of corporate communications at ATB, stated that the facility is currently non-operational, and experts are assessing the extent of the destruction and financial losses. “It’s difficult to provide exact figures at this moment, but we anticipate the damages will be in the hundreds of millions of hryvnias,” he noted.
The destroyed logistics center played a vital role in ensuring the delivery of food and essential items to approximately 300 stores in the affected regions. In response to the loss, ATB has begun restructuring its logistics routes and supply chains to mitigate any potential shortages for customers.
Demchenko emphasized that efforts are underway to redistribute supply chains and logistics to ensure uninterrupted delivery of food and essential goods. “We are confident that this work will be completed in a timely manner,” he added.
Despite the extensive damage, there were no reported injuries among the staff. They were safely sheltered when the drone struck, limiting the impact to the building and the goods inside.
According to the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration, the drone attack on June 3 involved three strikes on the Dnipro district. Eight individuals sustained injuries from the attacks, which also caused significant fires at warehouses and a logistics company in the area. Over 100 firefighters and nearly 50 units of equipment were deployed to extinguish the fires, which took more than a day to fully control.
As of 12:50 PM on June 4, the State Emergency Service reported that the fire at the distribution center had been completely extinguished.
