Polymega Remix introduces a modern solution for retro gaming enthusiasts, allowing them to digitize their physical game collections without relying on questionable ROM files from the internet. This system includes a base unit and a dedicated application for Windows, facilitating the transformation of physical games into a digital library.
The Polymega Remix system operates with an external drive that connects to a computer via USB. Once a disc or cartridge is read, the game is added to the user’s digital collection within the Polymega application.
According to the developers, “If you collect retro games and have a compatible PC or portable device, Remix is designed for you. The gadget allows you to preserve your collection of physical games just like the Polymega Base Unit, but it provides greater flexibility in how and where you play.”
The base unit supports CD games for the following systems:
- Sony PlayStation 1 and Sega Saturn;
- Sega CD, Mega CD, and 32XCD;
- Neo Geo CD, TurboGrafx CD, and PC-Engine CD.
For cartridge owners, interchangeable modules (adapters) are available for separate purchase. These adapters enable the digitization of games for NES (Dendy), SNES, Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, and Atari 2600.

The Polymega application not only launches games but also enhances the visual experience for gamers. Developers have integrated support for virtual display modes that replicate the appearance of older televisions, along with the ability to apply patches for ROM hacks.
At launch, the system is compatible with Windows and Intel-based Macs. However, the manufacturer has announced that versions for iPhone, iPad, Android, and modern Macs with M-series chips (ARM) will be available in the coming months.
The base device of Polymega Remix is priced at $200 (excluding taxes and shipping). Initial shipments to gamers who placed orders are set to begin in May of this year.
Nonetheless, developers emphasize that adapters for cartridges will need to be purchased separately, depending on which retro consoles are in the user’s home collection.
Polymega Remix offers a new method for digitizing retro game collections, combining a base unit and application for seamless integration. With support for various gaming systems and upcoming compatibility for mobile devices, it aims to enhance the retro gaming experience.
