Ukrainian Forces Target Key Infrastructure in Crimea

In a series of nighttime strikes on June 24, Ukrainian drone units successfully targeted the main electrical substation in Sevastopol, Crimea, which is currently under Russian occupation. This operation was confirmed by the commander of the Special Operations Forces, Robert Brovdi, who noted that the attack resulted in significant damage to the facility.

Brovdi reported via Telegram that the Ukrainian forces effectively engaged 48 military targets throughout the southern occupied territories during the same night. The substation, which distributes power from the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant, was reportedly struck multiple times, leading to power outages in Sevastopol.

Meanwhile, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced successful operations against Russian air defense systems and military airfields in Crimea. The SBU’s special operations unit, Alpha, targeted air defense assets near the Kerch Strait and military infrastructure at the Sakhi and Gvardeyskoye airfields. Preliminary reports indicated that four aircraft hangars were hit at the Sakhi airfield.

Additionally, the SBU claimed that two units of the S-400 surface-to-air missile system and two Pantsir-S1 air defense systems were destroyed near Kerch, marking the fourth successful strike on a Pantsir-S1 in that area.

Russian military officials have yet to comment on these developments. However, the appointed head of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev, acknowledged the power outages resulting from the Ukrainian strikes.

Reports from the Telegram channel “Crimean Wind” suggested that the main electrical substation in Sevastopol experienced six to seven impacts, resulting in a fire visible from several kilometers away. Fires were also reported in Simferopol and near Kerch.

Throughout June, Ukrainian forces have intensified their attacks on military and energy facilities in occupied Crimea, marking the most significant escalation since the onset of the full-scale war. The ongoing strikes have led to fuel shortages, prompting restrictions on gasoline sales to civilians, scheduled power outages, and long queues at the Kerch Bridge as residents attempt to leave Crimea for mainland Russia. Additionally, children’s health camps have suspended operations until September.

Ukrainian forces launched targeted strikes on key infrastructure in Crimea on June 24, hitting an electrical substation and military airfields. This escalation reflects a significant increase in military activity in the region amidst ongoing tensions.
