Ukrainian Court Freezes Apartment Linked to Sanctioned Russian Businessman

A court in Kyiv has placed a freeze on an apartment owned by a Russian businessman, as confirmed by the Office of the Prosecutor General on May 27. The asset has been transferred to the management of the National Agency for Asset Management (ARMA).

The apartment, located in the Klovsky residential complex, is reportedly linked to a businessman who has been sanctioned by Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council. With a size of nearly 200 square meters, the property is valued at approximately $700,000.

According to the investigation, the businessman was involved in the operations of several companies that facilitated the supply of petroleum products, including diesel fuel, from Russia to Ukraine. To circumvent sanctions, documents were allegedly used to make it appear that the products belonged to companies registered in the UAE.

The prosecutor’s office has not disclosed the name of the businessman, who was sanctioned in May 2023 due to his involvement in supporting Russian military aggression against Ukraine. Following the imposition of sanctions, the apartment was reportedly transferred to an associated individual to evade seizure.

The property is now under arrest and managed by ARMA to preserve evidence and prevent the assets from being moved out of Ukraine.

In November 2025, prosecutors initiated the transfer of assets linked to the activities of the private military company Redut to ARMA, including a commercial property and land valued at over 2 million hryvnias.

A Kyiv court has frozen an apartment linked to a sanctioned Russian businessman, transferring management to ARMA. The asset is part of ongoing efforts to prevent the evasion of sanctions and preserve evidence related to illegal activities.
