Ukrainian authorities have issued a reminder to young men born in 2009 about their obligation to register for military service within the stipulated timeframe. This announcement was made by the Volyn Regional Center for Recruitment and Social Support via a social media post.
Those who turn 17 in 2026 must complete their registration between January 1 and July 31 of that year. The agency emphasized that adhering to these deadlines is a legal requirement.
Registration can be accomplished in two ways. The first option involves a personal visit to the local recruitment center. The second option allows for remote registration through the “Reserve+” application, which facilitates electronic identification and verification of personal details.
Certain individuals are exempt from this registration process, including those serving prison sentences or those subjected to compulsory medical measures.
In cases where registration deadlines are missed, valid reasons may include illness, natural emergencies, residence in temporarily occupied territories, or being in combat zones, among other factors that could hinder attendance or identification.
To register, individuals must prepare several documents, including:
- Ukrainian citizenship passport,
- an extract from the community register regarding residence,
- if applicable, an internally displaced persons (IDP) certificate,
- birth certificate,
- identification code,
- educational documents,
- certificates from educational institutions or workplaces (if available),
- four photographs measuring 35×45 mm without headgear.
It is important to note that there are no specific penalties for 17-year-olds who fail to register. In such cases, general provisions of the Ukrainian Code of Administrative Offenses apply to all military conscripts.
