U.S. Reiterates Support for Ukraine Amid Ongoing Conflict with Russia

During a recent hearing in the House of Representatives, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that the United States is not a neutral mediator in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. He confirmed that Washington maintains a clear political stance in support of Ukraine.

Rubio stated that the U.S. does not foresee a military resolution to the war, asserting that any potential end to the conflict would require diplomatic efforts. However, he noted that the lack of willingness from both parties to compromise poses a significant obstacle.

The Secretary of State reiterated the U.S. commitment to supporting peace initiatives, emphasizing that the destructive war in Ukraine cannot be resolved through military means. He made it clear that the U.S. continues to supply arms to Ukraine while maintaining sanctions against Russia.

Rubio clarified that the U.S. does not provide weapons to Russia and has not imposed sanctions on Ukraine, with all restrictive measures directed solely at Moscow. He stated, “Clearly, we have chosen a side, and we continue to sell arms to Ukraine through the PURL program.”

He also highlighted that U.S. support for Ukraine operates within international frameworks, including the PURL initiative, which remains unaffected by other global events and is a consistent aspect of U.S. policy.

In related news, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed openness to various formats for a diplomatic resolution to the war, including the possibility of direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, he noted that U.S. attention has recently shifted toward other international crises, impacting the overall context of diplomatic efforts regarding the war.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio affirmed the country's non-neutral stance in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, emphasizing ongoing military support for Ukraine and diplomatic efforts for peace. He highlighted that U.S. sanctions are exclusively aimed at Russia, reinforcing the commitment to Ukraine amidst shifting global attention.
