Russian Forces Target Civilian Infrastructure in Ukraine with Attacks

Russian military forces have launched a series of attacks on civilian infrastructure across Ukraine, with significant strikes reported in the Odesa and Kyiv regions.

According to Oleksiy Kuleba, Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction, the assaults continue to target critical logistical facilities. In Odesa, two ballistic missiles equipped with cluster munitions struck a logistics site, injuring eight road workers, two of whom are in serious condition.

Kuleba emphasized the essential role of these workers in maintaining the region’s transportation network, stating, “These are people who ensured the operation of the transport network and fulfilled their daily duties.” Emergency services are currently on-site to manage the aftermath of the attack, providing medical assistance to the injured.

In a separate incident, Russian forces targeted a dairy production facility in the Kyiv region during the day, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and injuries to seven others. The attack also damaged specialized road equipment crucial for the facility’s operations.

Recent weeks have seen a marked increase in the intensity of Russian strikes across Ukraine. Notably, on June 5, Russian forces launched a significant assault using missiles and a record number of drones, totaling 216 unmanned aerial vehicles. Ukrainian air defense successfully intercepted 198 of these threats.

Despite the rising frequency of attacks, Ukraine’s air defense systems have demonstrated high effectiveness, achieving a success rate of 90.75% in May. This includes intercepting over 91% of hostile drones, including the Iranian-made Shahed models.

In addition to targeting critical infrastructure, Russian forces have been specifically attacking civilian workers. On June 4, a drone strike targeted road repair equipment being used for humanitarian and defense purposes, destroying ten units of machinery without injuring the workers involved.

Recent Russian military actions have intensified, focusing on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. Attacks in Odesa and Kyiv have resulted in casualties and significant damage, highlighting ongoing threats to public safety and essential services.
